The Swedish company Safehotels Alliances AB launched a global hotel security standard in the autumn of 2002. Gothia Towers in Gothenburg was Sweden’s first hotel to be certified in accordance with Safehotels’ standard.
The standard evaluates as many as 240 points relating to fire, theft, violence, espionage, confidentiality, medical care and VIP security.
Safehotels has a contract with Pinkerton Consulting and Investigations Inc, an American company that works with about 800 of the 1,000 largest American companies on safety and security issues. Pinkerton is also one of the world’s strongest brands in the field of security. Safehotels has engaged Pinkerton to evaluate security systems all over the world.
From July 2008, Gothia Towers is classified as a “well protected against fire”. This is a voluntary system for fire protection in hotels.
