Time for a better world

Like us, you no doubt think that sustainable development is important, and that a good meeting place should consider both people and the environment. Sustainable development has been a natural part of our operations for many years now. We believe that a good meeting place should not just be ready for the future – it should lead us there. Welcome!

El Sistema

We support organisations and projects that aim to benefit people at a local level. One of these is El Sistema, a non-profit association with roots in Venezuela, which uses music to bring about positive change in the lives of children. In partnering with El Sistema we are helping to develop its activities here in Gothenburg, which includes co-hosting concerts. Around 1,600 children in the Gothenburg area are currently learning to play a variety of musical instruments.

Flowers and bees Upper House-style

The kitchen garden up on the roof of Upper House is in full bloom during the summer months, and the buzzing of 150,000 bees valiantly tries to compete with the noise of the city 27 floors below. Sweden’s highest apiary has been here for three years and in that time the colony has more than doubled without any outside help. Our garden produce is KRAV-certified, and like the herbs and spices grown up here, the honey is used in our restaurants’ dishes, as well as to flavour our own beer, which we brew in-house. You can’t get more local than that! And the next time you are here – take a look at Upper House’s honeycomb-inspired ceiling…
